The Menno Knight Putting the Fist Back in Pacifist

Aaaauugh! I mean… Happy Birthday!

So... first off. Happy birthday to my wife. She's another year older and doing well. We went out to Macaroni Grill for her birthday dinner. We both got Fettuccine Alfredo, mine with chicken and hers with shrimp. Delicious all around. Came home from that and her presents had arrived in the mail today. So, hoorah! She got a CamelBak drinking container with straw, a case for her new iPod Nano, and some breast-feeding friendly pajamas. All things she wanted and I think she was happy with them.

After getting home and opening gifts, Chelsea decided to wash Olive's bedding. Olive is our dog, so her bedding can get rather stinky. Part of her bedding is a fairly large pillow. Chelsea put this in the wash as usual. Except this time the washing machine decided it wasn't 'as usual'. Jerk. So, I'm in the bathroom when all of a sudden I hear, 'Jonathan! Water is dripping from the ceiling in the living room!' Oh joy... The pillow had gotten stuck against the top of the washer and started forcing water out of the washer. So, after pulling both the washer and dryer out from the closet and drying/mopping up the water, I'm sitting here 45 minutes later writing this blog.

But, I think things are back to normal. We'll have to check the ceiling tomorrow after it dries to see if it needs any immediate repair. I hope not, because that would be a pain. Anyways...

Happy Birthday to you, Chelsea! And it can't get any worse than this evening's episode.

  1. Wow! It can’t get any worse than that?! I hope you don’t have to eat those words once we’re homeowners and something explodes or falls through the ceiling or something ;) I love you.

  2. might want to take those “LARGE” items to a laundromat! They have bigger machines….

  3. Those kinds of surprises are never good on a birthday! Hope it’s all dried out now… You can always pop over (even in the wee hours of the morning — usually I’m still awake) and use our front loading washer. It handles large items like a charm. When we were washer/dryer shopping my main requirement was to find one that could handle a queen sized comforter so I didn’t have to take it to a laundromat to wash.
